Postpartum Doula Services

Congratulations on your new journey into parenthood!
Welcoming a new baby into your life can be one of the most amazing experiences, but it can also be challenging as you navigate the early weeks and months with your newborn (usually while sleep deprived!. This is where we step in, offering a helping hand to guide you through this incredible phase of life. We want to help you get off to the best start possible!

What is a Postpartum Doula?
A postpartum doula is a trained professional who provides compassionate and personalized support to new parents during the postpartum period, which typically spans the first few weeks to several months after the birth of their child. Unlike a midwife or medical professional, a postpartum doula does not offer medical care or advice but focuses on nurturing and empowering parents as they adjust to their new roles and the demands of caring for a newborn.

The Role of a Postpartum Doula:
A postpartum doula’s primary goal is to support and assist with the physical, emotional, and practical aspects of postpartum recovery and baby care. Here are some key aspects of their role:

Emotional Support: The postpartum period can be emotionally overwhelming for parents. A postpartum doula is there to normalize the experience, lend a listening ear, and offer encouragement during this time.

Care & Education: A postpartum doula is there to provide guidance on newborn care when needed. It is their goal to give parents confidence as they care for their new baby. They are also there to be an extra set of hands so that the parents can get the rest (or a hot meal and shower!) that they need. Postpartum doulas want the mother to have the best recovery possible. They are there to provide evidence-based information about postpartum recovery and self-care.

Household Assistance: In addition to baby care, a postpartum doula may help with things like light housekeeping, meal prep, and running errands.

Breastfeeding Support: For parents choosing to breastfeed, postpartum doulas can offer support, tips, and techniques. They can also provide referrals for lactation consultants if any issues arise that require further expertise.

Referrals and Resources: Postpartum doulas can provide information about local resources, support groups, and other professionals, should additional help be required.

We would love to talk with you more to find out how we can best help your family!

Meet our Postpartum Doula

Hi, I’m Brandi!

I am a wife and mama of three children ages 4, 9, and 11. We’ve lived in Texas since 2016 and we love exploring all the great parks, trails, museums, and food this area has to offer! I can often be found with a mug of coffee and my nose buried in a book (or my kindle). After having doula support during my son’s birth in 2014, I realized how beneficial it was for me and wanted to be able to offer that same support to other women. Since then, it has been a joy and privilege to be able to come alongside families during such a special time of life.
