About

We look forward to preparing you for birth

  • Jillian Silva

Hi, I'm Jillian

I have been teaching prenatal classes since the birth of my youngest daughter and I truly love what I do! Teaching new parents the process of birth and what to expect with their new baby is my passion.
My first job as a childbirth educator at the YWCA got me interested in supporting people during their labor and births which led me to became a certified Doula a few years later.  I've been so lucky to have supported many awesome families through their pregnancies, birth and the immediate postpartum period as they learn all about life with a new baby.

In addition the working at the YWCA, I have taught at several hospitals and currently teach multiple classes for several OBGYN practices, and other pregnant families throughout the Austin area and beyond!

Working as a postpartum doula paved the way toward my certification as a sleep consultant. It's important to understand how babies sleep and then begin to lay some groundwork to get themselves and their babies off to a good start.  You can learn more about sleep here: www.babiesindreamland.com

I have four amazing children all taller than me, and a pretty awesome husband whose passion is old cars & motorbikes. In my spare time, I love working with my laser cutter, designing cool stuff!

Hi, I'm Brandi

Hi, I’m Brandi! I’m a certified doula and pre/postnatal fitness specialist, and I have a Masters degree in Management and Leadership. Since 2017, I’ve had the privilege of  providing birth doula services to wonderful families in the Austin area and teaching classes with Austin Childbirth. I’m a wife and mom of three, and I realized my awe and passion for pregnancy and childbirth during my own pregnancies. With my experience during my own births, having had an epidural with my first baby, an induction and un-medicated birth with my second, and an un-induced, un-medicated birth with my third, I understand and appreciate that each pregnancy and birth is unique. I’m passionate about education, and honored to be able to offer support and companionship to women and their partners during one of the most important times in their lives.

Hi, I’m Ally

I’m a certified birth doula with a B.S. in Human Nutrition and hold a passion for physiologic birth, nutrition, and fitness. Before entering birthwork, I was an elementary school teacher who taught preschool, kindergarten, and special education. I’m also a mom to two children who were born alongside the loving support of the doulas here at Austin Childbirth.

In 2018, after having a positive unmedicated hospital birth with my first child I decided to switch from education to birthwork. Initially I planned to become a labor and delivery nurse with the goal of becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife, but realized doula care was more aligned with my heart’s desires and family's goals.

I completed my DONA International Birth Doula Training in 2021, and have been supporting births in home, hospital, and birthing center settings since. In 2023, my husband and I had the pleasure of welcoming our second baby, again supported by the Austin Childbirth doulas, at a local birthing center. Having had two unmedicated, doula-supported births I can personally attest to the benefits that continuous doula support have on both the birth and postpartum experiences.

As your birth doula I love to work as a team alongside you and your partner to help you achieve the birth that you planned for by providing emotional, physical, informational, and positional support. We know that plans may change during birth, but I am also here to help you feel supported, educated, and at peace with decision making if plans do change. Additionally, I set out to provide evidenced based information and provide unbiased support during your prenatal and birthing experiences. While I love natural remedies and alternative medicine, I recognize and respect the importance of the medical community. For my clients who have planned hospital births, my goal is to be a positive and unbiased member of your “birth team” working harmoniously alongside your provider and nurses. At births I love to implement Spinning Babies positioning techniques and HypnoBirthing breathing methods to help my clients have a more comfortable birth.

Outside of birthwork, I cherish living life with my college sweetheart, raising our young children, and soaking up all the time I can outside in nature.
